The wine is aged in barrels for 18 months, with the proportion of new wood being exactly the same whatever the vintage.
Domaine Cosse Maisonneuve's La Marguerite cuvée is a micro-parcel of vines planted with a hundred-year-old selection massale found in Touraine. The vines are located on a terroir composed of iron-rich clay, which gives the wine precision and minerality. The first vintage of this cuvée was released in 2011.
Serve this wine at 17°C. Decant 2 hours before serving.
La Marguerite is a work of art. A 100% Malbec Cahors that reveals depth, complexity and, above all, incredible elegance, which is very rare in this region where the tendency is towards rusticity. This is a great wine for laying down that should not be opened for 2-3 years.
The nose reveals notes of liquorice, blackcurrant and blueberry with great finesse. The nose already opens up very well when young, but it is clear that this wine can offer a much broader and more complex range of aromas.
The palate is tender and greedy, the tannins still a little dry but very ripe. The fruit is juicy and develops notes of blackberry, black cherry and fig jam. A wine that is already very open in its youth, but which is far from showing its full potential.
